Over there------->
Well, I presume it's something with ColorSync, but that's just a guess. Here's the deal:

THE PROBLEM

In my normal user account, display profiles suddenly went haywire after I returned from a trip with my MacBook Pro. When I got back to my external display, no color profiles were working in anything outside of Photoshop, Lightroom, or Aperture. For example, I could no longer get a match when viewing a tagged photo in side-by-side windows of Photoshop and Preview, whereas I could prior to my trip.

MY TROUBLSHOOTING

So I tried creating a new user account and discovered that everything works fine there. Any and all color profiles work there as they should, allowing tagged images viewed in Preview or in browsers to match what I'm seeing when the same images are opened in Photoshop, Aperture, or Lightroom. Those same profiles do not work in the old account. No profiles work in the old account, not even generic ones.

MY SITUATION

Here's the embarrassing part. I dumped my Time Machine files about three months ago in a disk space emergency and never got it going again. Since then I've done only manual backups of important files and no backups of any system stuff. My bad, I know.

So, short of starting completely from scratch in that new user account, is there anything I can do to try to fix the problem? I don't want to lose my old account and all that goes with it. I can't even fathom the idea of having to recreate all of my preferences, keychain info, etc. Ugh.
