Need help fixing macbook easy problem

my speakers on my computer work flawless but when i plug headphones in i get no sound..its not the headphones and i did play with system preferences so do i reset them if so how or what do i do..thank you so much

Did the headphones ever work? Does sound stop going through the speakers as if the computer recognizes the headphones? The only time I've heard of this is when the headphone jack gets damaged inside the computer. Apple Care should be able to take care of it.
