Hi Everyone,

I hope this is the correct place for this question. I am looking for the cheapest place to get OS 10.3 Panther for my older ibook. I have been looking on ebay and it's running about $40.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't think you're going to find it any cheaper, given the captive audience, i.e., people who want it vs. people who are selling it.

One thing to keep in mind is to make sure you get the retail version, as system discs are keyed to the type of machine, so if you buy an iMac version of disk, it won't boot up on your iBook.

How can you determine if an item on ebay is keyed for a particular mac?

Look at the pictures. If the disc is gray, back away.

You want the retail ones with a black background and an "X" on it.

(IMO, the Panther box art is the best of all Mac OS X releases).
