Hey sorry guys really need your help. I was running my macbook pro (2009) on snow Leopard. Yesterday i did a clean install with the recovery disk that came with my laptop, it contained Leopard (10.5). Problem now is that im stuck on leopard because i lost the snow leopard disk, and I can't directly upgrade to lion since u need to be on 10.6 first. What are my options now?

I do have a time machine backup of when i was on snow leopard. And i did find a snow leopard recovery disk from my imac, but i dont think i can use that.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

You'll need to suck it up and buy again, and be more careful of where you store your recovery DVDs.

Load up the Leopard install disc. Instead of going through the motions of installing the OS, select Restore from a backup in one of the top menu options. Choose your most recent Time Machine backup and see if that works.

Most people install the OS before restoring. You don't actually have to do that if you backed up your entire system. You can just do a restore while having a DVD in the tray.

My new MBP came installed with Lion and new iMac has SL with install disks.

Can I just load SL disks and do fresh install on MBP?

And do I use format, erase in disk utility. I dont have much installed so I do not have to restore anything.

Thx

You can't use your discs from the iMac, only a retail copy or the discs from your MBP will work.

Snow leopard is still sold. I would buy another copy as it's only $29.

Thanks for all the reply's. Snaky69 was right. Only option was to get a new copy of Snow Leopard. I try'd everything. Finally i'm back on Snow Leopard :D.
