This is probably in the wrong section, but someone here is bound to know:

I want to SSH to my home computer from another state, but I can't get the address. Is there a way to have SSH find the 'network' ip, and within the network, connect to the 'machine' ip (starting with 192.168)? And once i do that, how can I prevent the IP from changing on that machine? (or every machine on the network, it doesn't matter)

Check out a dynamic domain name server service. I happen to use dyndns (just google it). It allows you to install a daemon on your machine that updates IP information whenever it changes. This will allow you to connect from anywhere you have an internet connection... I've SSH'd and used screen sharing from half way across the world... bad news is that, as far as I know, you need to be on your local network to get everything installed and configured.
