Need help giving my iphone 4S to my wife..how does she get her apps e.tc on the 4S?

Hey hopefully somebody can confirm for me how to do this.

I’ve just gotten my iphone 5 and am giving my iphone 4S to my wife..she currently has the 4. How can she get everything on her 4 onto my 4S via back-up from icloud? Can this be done even though she is only just putting her micro sim into my 4S...but can she still back her 4 up and put everything on the 4S straight away without deleting all my apps and reinstalling all of hers manually?

Please help if possible.

Have her restore the 4S (make sure you do an iCloud back up of the 4) then log in to your iCloud account in the setup after the restore and choose to restore from iCloud backup. Then just choose your most recent backup.

so do it through itunes on the computer then?

You can backup to either iCloud or iTunes, why not do both.

No I meant if i restore would i be able to take the phone off charge after restoring it and it would be empty with info..is that right?

On her phone, go to Settings -> iCloud

Then do a backup.


On the iPhone 4S you're giving her, whip the phone (restore to factory settings) using iTunes. When the phone starts, simply choose the 'Backup from iCloud' and sign into her iCloud account.

It will then sync her iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S.

It's different though the 5 is new...the 4S isn't. I meant more of how to get the phone completely blank so factory settings than backing up

You can erase the 4S without iTunes. Just go to settings > general > reset

yup, then restore.

Just make sure she does the iCloud backup first on her existing phone.
