Hello all,

Today I decided to try using my Rev. A iMac (233 MHz G3, 96 MB RAM, 4 GB HDD) for the first time in ~2 years, and it's not cooperating. I plugged it in and let it sit for about 5 minutes before booting. The first few attempts, when I pressed the power button, the orange light turned on and I got the dreaded 4 beeps, which I found indicates boot ROM issues. The hard drive and fan spin up like normal, but nothing else after that – no screen or anything. I powered off and on maybe 3 more times with the same results.

I unplugged it for about 15 minutes, plugged it back in, and now it does absolutely nothing when I press the power button (both the button on the computer and the one on the USB keyboard). It is getting power since I can hear the normal CRT/flyback squeal when I plug it in. I will say, I've dealt with this issue in particular before (no response when pressing power button), and I fixed it with a new PRAM battery 4 years ago. I will try that and post an update once I do it...

... But on the boot ROM issue, that has left me pretty stumped on what I should try first, mainly because I couldn't really find any helpful information on how to actually fix it. So I now turn to MR forums in the hopes that someone out there may have a suggestion.
