Need help installing new HDD on 17 inch.

Hi all, i posted in the help section and searched the forums but to no avail....

I purchased this HDD to replace my old drive and the computer powers on but when I try to install OSX it cannot locate a HDD.... simply comes up blank... any help? thanks?

When booting from the install disc, open Disk Utility from Menu Bar and format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

thanks this helped me solve the problem! but now I have a software problem where the installation of osx gets stuck at 99% when it says about a minute left for installation and simply stays there...... any more tips? Thanks
