Need help JB'n an old BR 3GS to untethered 5.0.1

Can someone explain to me (or point me to a site) how to upgrade my old bootrom 3GS to 5.0.1 untethered (and hopefully preserving the BB)?

I understand it is possible, and have been crawling all over Google (and here) trying to find instructions. However, all I find are explanations for 3GSs with new BRs. I've tried Redsn0w .9.9b8, but it doesn't want to recognize 5.0.1 to customize it.

Now I'm not new to the JB'n party, but this has me stumped. So any help will be appreciated.

The only way right now w/ bb preservation in old bootroom 3GS is Sn0wbreeze latest release; redsn0w custom ipsw no bb option is not updated to 5.0.1 yet so your only option is sn0wbreeze; I did it to my old 3GS and it was my first time w/ sn0wbreeze but this version out right know is just as stable as redsn0w based on my usage & is untethered for it. use sn0wbreeze to build ipsw of 5 or 5.01 very stable
