Need help logging into macbook pro ret 13"

So something weird is happening. My macbook login password, which I just setup 3 days ago, isn't working anymore. Tried all variations of the password (with caps and all that), to no avail I am locked out of my notebook at 12:30AM

This prompted me to attempt and reset my password via iCloud. Everytime I reset my password via iCloud (including resetting my AppleID password) the password doesn't work for logging into my macbook?

So what the f is going on?

MacBook password and iCloud password are two very different things. Like, they're not even closely related.

yeah you can't do this if you have firevault turned on.

I know they are separate passwords but following the instructions on my macbook thats what it prompted me to do, change my AppleID password and in doing so also changing the password that I can use to log into my macbook.
