Hello,

I dropped my MacBook Pro with the retina screen and the screen started malfunctioning. This kind of accident is not covered under my Apple Care. Took it to a Simply Mac store and they are going to change $814 for a screen replacement---they did diagnostics and said everything else works fine, just needs a new screen. They said I could take it to an Apple store (further away, but doable) and it would *probably be cheaper, maybe around $600.

Before I do this, I'm wondering, is there a way for me to purchase a refurbished or cheaper MacBook retina screen online and replace it myself? I have to have the retina screen again because they don't make normal screens for the model of MacBook I have, so I was told.

Makes me sick that it costs this much ... I went out and bought a back up PC for $250 --- AN ENTIRE COMPUTER
