I have the May/2011 iMac and it's starting to seem sluggish. I've got about 350 of the 500GB used up. Not really sure where it's all coming from, but I do have home-videos in iMovie, so that probably sucks up most of it (I guess I do know where it's coming from).

I have Mountain Lion installed. I was thinking about saving everything (just the iPhoto pics, iTunes library, and videos) and doing a complete clean install with snow leopard.

What say you?

Why downgrade to snow leopard? I'm with 50volt. If you don't have a least 8 gigs of ram that would be my first option to upgrade. What is the speed of your hard drive? That might be another thing to consider but you would have to get your computer taken in to have the hard drive upgraded to a larger, faster drive.

You can't install Snow Leopard on this machine. It has to be at least the OS that came with it. Drivers play a big part.

install disk inventory x to see what is taking up your hard drive space.

can you explain what exactly feels sluggish?

It's not too sluggish...it doesn't have that zip from the beginning.

I was hoping to insert the SL DVD (10.6.6) and do a clean install from it.
