In a van down by the river
I set up the new 2022 Apple 4K TV yesterday using my iPhone. The process went smoothly. After the Apple TV started the visual screen screen saver, I noticed that if a certain scene comes up in the rotation, it freezes the screen. If I press the remote, nothing happens on the screen although I get an audible confirmation of action happening with the press. I have to turn off the Apple TV and turn back on again in order to keep using the Apple TV.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

If it’s showing the fancy Apple screen savers you can turn that off. You can opt instead for a photo album. It’s not a fix but it might keep you from having to reboot until Apple issues a fix.

Thanks for the reply. It is the fancy Apple screen savers. I didn't have this problem on my second gen 4K Apple TV. The single offending city landscape picture triggers it every time. The pic looks like a parking lot.

I called Apple Support and didn't really get any help. I decided to try another Apple TV as I thought the other might be defective. I set up the new 4K Apple TV 2022 and it to is randomly freezing Apple TV on certain aerial screen savers just like the other one I bought at the end of November.

That is odd behavior. Probably a bug in the system. I've been using my new ATV 4K 2022 for a few days and yesterday watched all the fancy aerial screensavers that have so far downloaded without any issues. I might not have the same ones running though. I'm using the HDR setting rather than SDR, so I might have a different set of screensavers than you. If you are looking at SDR screensavers then there could be a bug therein, but HDR ones seem to work, so far...

There have been a few glitches though with other things. Yesterday I turned on the ATV 4K 2022 which turned on the Sony Bravia TV and Sony soundbar, but I got a flickering screen because the TV couldn't seem to get a stream feed from the ATV 4K 2022. It was trying to locate the ATV 4K 2022 but failed. I turned off everything, then turned the ATV 4K 2022 and it worked fine thereafter. So just a glitch.

Thanks for the reply. I was using HDR aerial. Apple photos screen savers work without any problems. That is what I have it on now. I have seen a few other reports of the same problem with some aerial screen savers although no solution was noted that I saw.
