Hi-
I am a photographer using photoshop heavily. Currently have an iMac 20 inch 2 Ghz PowerPc G5 with 2 GB RAM. It is WAY TOO SLOW doing things such as RAW conversions. I do not like the new iMacs with the glossy screen, etc... I have the opportunity to buy a 24 inch, core duo 2.16 iMac or obviously take a step up to a Mac Pro with any sort of configuration.

Any advice as what to purchase???

Thanks in advance!

Mac Pro machines just updated today.

If you want to jump to the Mac Pro, there should be some of yesterday's models hitting the Special Deals section.

This fire sale on the old machines may let you step up to the Mac Pro.

Thanks

Thanks for the update, but I'm talking about speed, etc... How much faster is the imac 2.33 core duo than the imac power pc 2.0???

an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.33 vs a G5 at 2.0?

I would guess 1.6 to 1.8 times faster.

A Core 2 Duo is 1.4 to 1.5 x faster than a Core 2
and the Core 2 is faster than the PPC

My 2.66 MacPro is 2.1x faster than its G5 predecessor.
