Cold beer land
Due to "a drop of soda", I'll be needing a new laptop

Presently on a 13" MBP. But want a 15".

Basically there are 2 choices of 15", the older version with 2 "old style" USB and newer Touch bar versions with 4 USB C and no old style.

I have a PC at work with USB C style power/dock connection. I understand some of its limitations

My preference is the non Touch bar 15" MBP.
reasons:
1) magsafe power connector. Most robust from getting knocked. At it does. USB C seems like a step backwards.
2) USB & SD card slot. I have lots of USB A thumb drives. To increase storage on MBP there are robust options like a 200G SD in the SD card slot. tiny 128G USB drives (Sandisk)

So ...
For those with a Touch bar MBP (or an opinion ):
What are your thoughts on the ruggedness of USB C charging vs magsafe? How long is the charging cord?
Thoughts on lack of SD card slot? Dongle?

Use case:
Mostly email, web browsing, using Parallels to run Windows (with USB devices). Light FC Pro.
My CPUs are rarely "pinned".
My biggest constraint I run into is lack of drive space.

I'm assuming that the older 15" is a used MBP - how old?

I currently have a Fall 2013 rMBP - still runs just fine. When the time comes, I won't have any problem with the Touch Bar - that doesn't bother me at all. Neither do the USB C connectors. I've replaced all of my portable drives with ones that support USB C connectors. There's an adapter that mimic's the magsafe connector for the USB C. The lack of a SD card slot is a minor inconvenience.

Me - I'd get the newer one with the Touch Bar

There is still a non Touch bar 15" MBP on the Apple website. So new.
Can you post info on the magsafe mimicker for USB C?
I use a 128G Sandisk USB drive (Ultrafit). It sticks out only about 1/4" from MBP. Anything like that in USB C?
