need help please with file extension

How do i find out the extension of a certain file? get info doesnt show it nor does it show up when i select preferences show all extensions.

is there a way to find out the extension?

It probably just doesn't have an extension. The best file information utility I know of is X-Ray, try dropping the file onto it.
