I've post something earlier this morning concerning my failed HD.

Anyway, I've lost everything on my 80GIG HD and now i earsed it and did a clean software restore. The only problem is that i can't seem to get to the desktop. There's just a blue screen and a cursor. I've tried to fix the HD with Norton and everything but nothing will help. Am I missing some steps or something?

Also, I've restored software on a different partition and it's doing the same thing. The only bootable partion is a 10 GIG partition i made a while back. I need help fast. I have a media project i need to finish by this weekend...so, if anyone has any suggestions...thanx a lot.

Norton is probably the problem.

Try fsck -y from the console (command S at startup), then try the Disk utility on the OSX disk (also restoring permissions), then try DiskWarrior from OS 9. Remove all Norton Crap, and only EVER use Norton from the CD if you MUST use it. DO NOT install Norton.

There are also some arcane partioning rules regarding where OSX must be on a disk, which may or may not be contributing to your grief.
