I am running Final Cut Pro 6 on my Mac Book Pro. I have a Sony HDV/DV video cassette recorder, that I have used many time to import video into FCP and edit. The trouble is, now that I am trying to print to tape, I can't get the project to record to tape. The tape just records black. There is no separate input/output on the deck. The manual for the Sony deck says it will automatically switch. I changed the output to HDV in the a/v devices under preferences in Final Cut Pro, and now it takes hours to conform to HDV, then it starts printing to tape and quits within seconds. I still don't get any footage on the tape I am trying to record to. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had luck printing to video using a sony deck and if so can you please tell me how it's done? Thanks!

I think with print to tape you have manually hit record.

I always use edit to tape, I just black out a DV tape with control track before I do it.

Just recheck your settings I am sure it's just something simple you overlooked.
