Here's the story. Have an iMac with a back up hard drive. I had been successfully using Time Machine to back up my iMac. A few days ago I decided to repartition my back up hard drive so that I could use one partition for Time Machine and the other partition for videos. After repartitioning the back up hard drive, I attempted to back up again using Time Machine. Time Machine could not complete the back up and it ended. It just so happend that on the same day I chose to repartition my back up hard drive, my iMac hard drive died. I took it to an Apple service center. They replaced my iMac hard drive, but were unable to recover the data from my crashed iMac hard drive. I learned that I may be able to recover the old Time Machine backup from my repartitioned hard drive using REMO Recover (Mac) - Pro Edition. So here are my questions.
1. Has anyone ever tried recovering data from a repartitioned back up hard drive? If so, how did you do it?
2. Will I be able to simply repopulate my new iMac hard drive (now running Snow Leopard) with the data I recover from my old Time Machine back up (was running Leopard)?
3. Will the files automatically be restored to the appropriate apps (iTunes, Mail, Address Book, iPhoto, etc.) or will I have to transfer each individual file to the appropriate app?
