Apparently I have some sort of ad blocker enabled in Safari which I cannot locate, identify or remove. I have been through every setting that I can find concerning security and privacy, and cannot find anything that remotely resembles an ad blocker... yet various websites report that I am running an ad blocker and refuse to load content.

Can anyone assist with where to look and/or how to resolve this?

Safari adblockers would be located under Safari preferences and the extensions tab. If nothing is there then you may have to clear out the cache/history for Safari but this remove any info saved on various websites.

Ok, this is even more perplexing, as it appears to be system-wide. I see the exact same behavior on Safari, Chrome and Firefox... to test, I set each browser as default, then tested by opening several website... and trying to click links from a known-to-be-legit Constant Contact email (the email is from an organization where I volunteer, and know the links to be valid, and free from malware), and then repeat the process for each browser

...NONE of these links will open in any browser.

Also, I follow @9to5Toys on Twitter and clicking on their links opens the page with a series of links to the various products... but clicking on the product link results in an error saying the page cannot be loaded (verbiage varies from browser to browser to browser, but the message conveyed is the same).

Did you do anything that was suggested above?

Is this behavior all happening at one physical location and only at that location? From what you’re describing, it sounds like it might be some router ad/site-blocking.
It's on my 27" iMac, so just at home... never thought to look there... will start pouring over the router settings...I suppose it could be a DNS thing... my internet provider is Cox Communications and the router is configured to use their default settings via DHCP...

I changed the DNS server to Google public (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and all functionality has been restored... so, after all of that, it appears that the sites were being filtered by my ISP... so, the next question is, is the Google public DNS safe to use?

Can anyone recommend a safe, fast and secure DNS service? A quick search turned up quite a few... but want to avoid anything sketchy.

Glad that worked! I can’t imagine that Google DNS is not safe, but may not be the most private.

I'd use Cloudflare's DNS addresses, which are 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.
