Need help screen mirroring on a MacBook Air 2020

Trying to mirror my iphone X onto my MacBook Air. I swipe down from right corner and I see screen mirroring icon. I click it and the computer never shows up to select. What can I do? Bluetooth is on for both.

I have never done this before so I have no clue how it is supposed to work.

DO I need something called Reflector?

Don't think you can mirror on mac. I use it to mirror on apple tv
