Need help Security settings

I am in the process of setting up my new imac now I have had a couple of days getting used to getting around it. I want to be able set it set it so when I boot up i am asked for a password. I have manage to put passwords for files ect but it still doesn't ask for password when I boot.

Any tips on the best firewall and security settings will be helpful.
