Hi all,

New member with a somewhat confusing problem.

I have a 64GB iPad Air 2 running iOS 10.3.3. (I won't upgrade to 11 for a bit, as I want to give time for some of the bugs to be worked out.)

My iPad has been giving me a Storage Full message on a somewhat regular basis. I have deleted apps, photos, etc. I have restarted countless times. I have looked online and followed other recommendations.

When I look at my storage data, Messages is my most consuming app, at 2.13 GB.

Suffice it to say, I have dumped a bunch of data and content and, despite my best efforts, my iPad says I still only have 3.16GB of storage available and used 57.15GB.

When I plug it into my laptop, however, and check out what the memory is devoted to, I find that I have 41.34GB free (see screenshot).

So why this disparity? What do I have to do actually to free up the full 41.34GB?

Thank you for your help!

I’ve never seen this myself, but I had a quick google, and a good few people seem to have fixed this by going into “iTunes & App Store” in the Settings app, and signing out and back into their Apple ID.

Apparently it clears some cached files.
