Need help to transfer photo albums from old mac to new mac

I have been transferring my pictures from my old mac to new. Only problem is I can't figure out how to transfer the photo albums from my old mac to new. So I have all of the pictures, but they aren't organized into albums as was on my old mac. Any thoughts?

Were you/are you using iPhoto?

yes, using iphoto

Here's the thing. I tried a number of ways to transfer the photos - over my wireless network, by flash drive, etc, but all that would ever transfer was "ghosts" - blank looking files which wouldn't open. So most of my photos were added to the new mac with cd's where I had previously stored them.

Now I'm trying to move the photo albums
