Hi all, recently brought a new iMac 21" for the first time 4 weeks ago and I'm not satisfied with it at all, so i have decided to go back to windows and give my Mac to a family member. I need help here though, do i just make a new account with all admin permissions and delete my current profile of the Mac then leave it with the other person (so its their Mac with the stuff they want) or do i have to format the hard drive so everything is new or should i just rename the profile to the other persons name??

Also i brought office Mac as a bundle with the purchase and was added to my account. When a new profile/account is made will the owner of the new account be able to use the applications (Office Mac was installed onto my profile at the shop)??

Im really not familiar with the Mac OSX so this question might be extremely easy to solve but i don't know the answer for it, so any help will be greatly received.

(If this topic/question(s) makes no sense i will try to explain in better detail.)

Many thanks, Josh.

You can't rename the user account. That would be a bad idea, so Apple made it impossible, or at least very difficult. Creating a new user with admin privileges is the way to go. You can delete your account once you've transferred anything you want to keep to your Windows PC.

Lucky family member! ...getting a better computer than the one you're going back to. Perhaps if you listed the sources of your dissatisfaction someone could illuminate some things for you. After only four weeks, you haven't given yourself much time to unlearn Windows and figure out how to use the Mac OS.

Ok, so when i make a new account the person should be able to use the Mac as if it was theirs, straight out of the box?

And perhaps i making a mistake going back, but i feel like the Mac was too much money and i didn't get everything i needed for the price i payed so I'm going to get something for cheaper and i get more, i wanted a change originally (why i made the purchase in the first place) but found frustration within the first week hence my change.

And thanks for the reply, also thank you to the mod who changed my title, i couldn't think of one at the time.

1. Sure

2. First week... sounds like par for the course. Speaking of which, Apple does have classes to help you learn how the Mac OS works.

3. You're welcome
