I have a new 13" MBP connected to a LG 27UD88-W monitor via the USB-C port on the monitor. I also a Plugable 7-port USB 3.0 powered hub connected to one of the USB-A ports on the back of the monitor.
The MBP is charging and sending the video signal to the monitor fine, but I discovered that when I plug some USB flash drives into my wired Apple Keyboard (connected to the hub), I get an error in the finder telling me that my USB Accessory Needs Power. Even if I plug this USB drive directly into the powered hub I still get the error. I've read about the shortcomings of this monitor with regard to USB connection speeds, but I was not expecting such a power issue.
Can anyone recommend a good multiport USB hub that will plug directly into the MBP via USB-C and help me avoid this power problem? I would rather have a hub that I can tuck out of the way and not having it hanging off of my MBP.
