Go to Settings...
go to General; go to About; go to Serial Number: 5K747 and this tells me that I have a week 47 iPhone. And no, it wasn't possible for me to check the outside of the box, but you might ask to see the box before you purchase it, (it's worth a shot!).

My serial number doesn't have anything that looks like a possible week number. Have they possibly changed the numbering scheme? I bought mine a week ago.

If you tap on the settings icon another menu will pop-up, then scroll up to general, tap that, and then another menu will pop-up, scroll up again, and you will see your serial #, the 4th & 5th #'s are the week #'s! But since you have stated that you just bought your phone i believe your phone is an OOTB 1.1.3 w/ a baseband of 04.03.13_G and your bootloader is 4.6. My 4th and 5th digits are 04. That doesn't make any sense since I just bought it and it's a 16 GB. Oh....maybe it's the 4th week of the 16 GB version????

Thinking about it now...has it even been out 52 weeks? That doesn't sound right. I still have version 1.1.2. Any more suggestions? I know it doesn't really matter but now I'm just curious and it bugging me. LOL.
It is week 52 of 2007 (i.e. the last week of 2007)
It is week 4 of 08.

mine says its 27, but i bought mine july 13 i know it hadnt been out for 27 weeks? my last digit of the serial is 8 which would make more sense
That means that it is the 27th week of the year 2007, not the 27th week that it has been out.
