I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3 that is locked to a carrier and I would like to unlock it. The carrier end of the process is easy as I simply need to give them the IMEI and they will remove the lock on their end. However, on my end for a device running an iOS version of this vintage, I would have to complete the process using iTunes by either performing a full restore or installing a new carrier settings update that pops up, which seems to depend on your carrier. The phone in question is locked to Telus and I can't find anything about how it works for them. Since we haven't had to unlock iPhones like this for more than a decade now, I only found info for Rogers (requires full restore) and some Australian carriers after quite some digging. I don't want to take the risk of jailbreaking and dumping the blobs to restore later because the iPhone 4 is well past its prime (both as a flagship and in the jailbreak community) so I don't want to end up with a brick that I have no choice but to update to iOS 7.
