Need help using gift card on iPad!

I gave my daughter an App Store gift card and added it to her iPad. She is in my Family and requires approvals, etc. She found an app she wants, and when she clicks on the price, it tells her she needs to verify a payment method. It then lists "Apple Account" with her gift card balance, which I can't click on, and then the card tied to my account which says "[something] verify" in red letters underneath and when she clicks it asks me for a verification code. I didn't enter this, as I'm assuming it would then charge my card. Am I missing something here? In Settings, there isn't anything listed under her payment methods, but I don't see a way to add a gift card there either, only in the app store. Please help! Thanks!!
