Hello,
Im new to mac, ive been a windows developer for years, and i want to start playign around with appstore development. I figured my cheapest option was to get a mac mini(2gig upgrade) and vnc from my windows laptop. I bought the mini this weekend, and its an impressive machine, its connected wirelessly to my netgear router at home and im using tightvnc to connect to it over lan. it doesnt respond terribly well(compared to a windows to windows remote desktop).
I am wondering if i made a mistake, is it really reasonable to develop over vnc or will it always be this poor performance?
i will try and hardwire the mini to the network when i get home to see if that helps, but my windows machine is 3ghz dual core 4g ram and performs well so i dont believe thats the issue.
I have also tried connecting vnc over the internet from work and it is bordeing on unusable.
I wanted to try this as a cheap option for appstore development before shelling out $2k on another notebook(just bought the new windows machine) I'm wondering if buyign a macbook really is my only option for development...
any help is appreciated.
