I have tried rebooting my computer. It does not work to regain sound.

I have also reset the PRAM (pressing option, command, r and p)--or tried to since my computer does not make any noise when starting. This has resolved the problem in the past but not today!

My old computer had a volume problem as well, the way i figured out to fix it was to plug in head phones and then hold the volume button to turn it up. While holding it you then unplug the headphones. See if that works. Just wondering what year is you air?

It is a 2011. Plugging headphones in did not work. I could get no sound out of them. My volume is stuck at the lowest position.

Before I did not hold F12 while unplugging them. However, this time I tried it and it still does not play any sound or allow me to unmute the volume.
