Need help with a power Mac g4

Can anyone tell me why my monitor turns off whenever I power up my g4

What are the specifics of your G4 and display?

Do you see the boot screen (Apple logo) or does it not show anything?

If the display is powered by the Mac, then it could be the tower’s power supply failing.

I do see the Apple logo sometimes sometimes it doesn't appear I can usually tell when it's going to show up because it'll make sounds through the speaker. If I don't hear any sound I already know that the monitor is going to turn off. When it does decide to come on it's great until I move it then it seems like it freezes and when I turn it off go through the same ordeal again
