Right side of wrong
Hey. I am doing an informative speech about Apple Computer. (i think i said this in another thread somewhere). anyways, the speech outline is due tomorrow. basically i need 3 main points for my speech. the speech has to be 5-7 minutes.

so i'm not quite sure about my 3 main points yet. i could do the switch to intel processors, the success with the ipod, and i'm not sure about the last one. i thought maybe the differences with os x and windows. i don't really know. i thought this would be the best place to get some help.

Thanks in advance, but i need help asap

Some ideas for you:
  • Apple consolidating its product line (remember 'the grid')
  • Transition to OS X
  • Initial reception to iPod vs 5 years on
  • Confusion and misconceptions people have
  • The secrecy and hysteria surrounding Apple events

Personally I would avoid comparing OS X and Windows, and avoid the Intel transition. Probably just because they are difficult to explain, and pretty boring. (To me, at least.) :)

i would go with

-Macs to go intel, which Models are intel, how much faster
-Mac OSX, what makes it so great
-iPod, Specs on the Current Models

I would go:

  • Start of Apple
  • The Graphical User Interface
  • The current Apple, With its success in digital media

thanks for all the replies. i think i'm going to go with the switch to intel and something to do with the ipod, mainly b/c my professor agreed that they would be good to do.

still not sure about the 3rd one, even though i would like to do something about os x.

just remember, it's an informative speech, not persuasive

don't know a certain top 3, but here's some topics to consider

1. the start of apple all the way up to steve jobs' firing
2. steve jobs coming back to apple and totally "reviving" it.
3. OSX
4. iPod
5. Switch to intel
6. the $99 leather ipod case

i'm still not sure about my third topic, but i also have another assignment for the same class. i have to come up with a new product, and write a proposal for the product.

any ideas? i'm thinking about writing about a computer that's a DVR. but that's all it's used for. it's in the living room, and no keyboard or mouse, just a remote. but it's a computer.

what do you think? is there already something like that? i know there's not that's running OS X

is it ok to start a new thread about this?

a 199 Leather Case for the iPod Shuffle:eek:

For a Mock-Up-Do you need to do a pic of it?
Try a Newton-a new one
or a large Tablet Mac
iPod with TochScreen
or a Media Mac

Speech

I would recommend a speech on the Mac's 'Integration.' To me, this (as well as security) is what realy distinguishes todays Mac's. Where else can you find integration across software for managing photos (iPhoto), music (iTunes & GarageBand), video (iMovie & iDVD), etc., and across applications such as email, documents (Pages), presentations (Keynote), web sites (iWeb) etc.

Simply does not exist on any other platform!

Surely a history on the company and its currrent role is better?

but i don't want to be boring. and the history of the company could take up quite a bit of time. the speech is only 5-7 minutes

Skip out boring bits?

Apple started

Apple took off

Xerox PARC and the GUI

OSX and ipod

how about this:

switch to intel
success of the ipod
and how apple computers are geared more towards artists (can't think of better word) and that mac users are their own group (almost cult)

what do you think?

well i need help. i'm very nervous about this speech. i have to give it on thursday. right now i'm giving it on the success of the ipod, the switch to intel, and how macs are geared towards creative people.

what do you think? i think i should change the last one?
