HI there!
I am working on a photo slideshow for my parents anniversary this week.
Its my first attempt working with imovie and my prob is I cannot seem to extend the clip length. In the help, it tells me to dbl click on clip, and to type the duration I want. Seems simple enouhg BUT it doesnt allow me to change duration...all I am able to do is change the clip name!
:(
Please HELP!
Thanks in Advance!

PS..sry if this may not be posted in the appropriate forum

What version of iMovie are you using? If it's the latest (iMovie 6) select the clip in the timeline then go to Media>Photos and click Show Photo Settings. You can then set the duration and Ken Burns effect.

Also if it's a still clip I believe you can extend the duration by dragging the edges of the clip in the timeline view.

version of iMovie

HI..
Just realized I forgot to include the version..Im using 05.

The only way I am finding is if I use the ken burns effect..UGH

Thanks for your reply...

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure there's an easier way but for now you can try this.

Select the clip, then go to effects>fast/slow/reverse. You can then just use that to speed up or slow down the duration of a clip.

not using iPhoto because

HI...
Well I want to add audio to the slideshow. As far as I know, to do that you msut use iMovie, or am I wrong?

Thanks!

You can add music using iPhoto. Give me a sec, ill find it..

EDIT: Ok, just click on Slideshow, then on the bottom right, there is the iTunes icon. Click on it, and select the song you want. :)

Thanks Shamus..

But since I already have the pics set up in iMovie Ill try to stick it out there.
Can you add transitions, effects, and titles on iPhoto? Im thinking no, but i also didnt think you could add music soooo

Thanks again for you help! :)

Double clicking doesn't work even though they say it does.

This did come up once before and we figured out an answer but I can't test the answer now since I'm on iMovie 6.

I seem to recall that you need to highlight the clip in the timeline, then go back to the Photo pane and change the time there from 5 seconds to 10 or whatever and then click import or apply and it will redo it.
