Need help with connecting to my TV

I just brought this cable http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00675Q2CW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 to connect my MBP to my LCD TV and it works great but my question is how do I get it so I can shut the lid on the MBP and keep the comp awake on my TV?

You must have an external display, an external keyboard, and an external mouse hooked up for the MBP to wake up with mouse movement or keyboard input after it goes to sleep.

And external power too.

I have a wireless keyboard and trackpad but did not have it connected to a power source at the time. Will try it again.
