Need help with contacts

Okay my iphone 4 got stolen so i had to get a new sim and im going back to my 3g. Now im trying to get my contacts from the iphone 4 to this phoee from one of the backups. The problem is the backups from the iphone 4 arent showing up just the last backups of the 3g from a year ago. Help?

I don't believe the 3G model can run the latest version of iOS 4. It caps out at 4.2.1 when the newest is 4.3.1. If your iPhone 4 was up-to-date, you can't restore an unsupported backup to an older version of iOS 4. That's probably why you can't restore from a backup... Weren't your contacts in Outlook or Address Book? Can you not just enable the syncing of contacts with the supported program on your computer and have it all go over?
