Hello, I have some questions that I hope someone can help me with. Just a quick break down I am coming from a 2011 MacBook Pro 15 and need a new laptop now. I do not need a real powerful laptop and that has caused my confusion.

1) better overall option 2016 MacBook or 2015 MacBook Pro 13 for me?

2) how big of a user experience upgrade will either be coming from a 2011?

3) how are the speakers on both devices? (I watch tons of movies and stream music)

4) if you were me would you just continue to use your iPhone and wait instead? Lol

Sorry in advance if these posts are considered annoying to you folks.

This should all be changed next week when the new Macbooks are expected to be announced.

1. MBP 13 has more power. MB is lighter.
2. both will be an improvement, though the keyboard is a different design on the macbook than your old one. The MBP is closer to what you had before.
3. Both are as good or better than your old one.
4. I'd get something now. A new MBP is coming, but no one knows when.

If you have to buy something NOW, I'd suggest the MacBook Pro as the better choice.

It will have longer "legs" going forward.
And more power right-out-of-the-box.

If there's any way you can afford to wait a few months longer, there is an entirely new generation of MacBook Pros coming, very soon.

What's your typical usage scenario? Your 2011 15" is still quite a powerful computer for today's standards, why are you wanting a new one?

I wasn't clear enough, my 2011 is currently dead. I'm now restricted to just my iPhone as of this week. That is why I need a laptop sooner than later.

My usage is normal school related work, email, Netflix, social media, music, very light gaming, and occasional photo editing. No hardcore uses, but I do use my laptop a lot. Many hours a day it will be used.
