Need help with I photo and Videos

I have just purchased a mac mini and I wanted to transfer all my photos and videos from a Pc to the mac via a hard drive.

The iPhoto seem to copy all the photos but not all the videos kept coming with a error message. What I doing wrong?

Also I preferred how I had the files on my pc in folders but when I transferred to iPhoto it went into events can I change this?

Would it be worth me transferring one album at a time?

How Can I delete all the pictures I have transferred over already.
