Mods, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong forum.

Here's what I've done so far

  • Upgraded iCloud storage plan from 5GB > 50GB
  • Used the Google photos archive feature to download all my Google photos on to my Macbook.
  • Imported all Google photos into the Photos App using the import feature.
  • When to preferences in Photos App > Icloud > enabled icloud photo library and selected keep original.
  • On iPhone XR sent to settings > Icloud > enabled iCloud photo library.

If I login to icloud.com I can see the photos that were on my XR but not many from my Macbook Photos app. There are like 2800 photos on my Mac. It's been almost 20 hours I've had my Macbook connected to a power source. I even set the Mac to never sleep.

what am I doing wrong?

Update: restarted my Macbook, went into photos again and a sync button appeared at the bottom that wasn't there before. all is well now.
