I'm uploading dozens of home videos to iMovie. I then want to store them on an external hard drive and share them on iTunes to watch on ATV2. The two movies I uploaded so far go right into the "event library." However, from there I cannot share them to iTunes. Do I have to make every movie into a project so that I can share them from the "project library"? What is the best way to do all this? Thanks!

If they are in a format already that iTunes can play then you have to drop them into iTunes. Drag & drop from the external hard drive location. If you are editing them in iMovies, then you will have to export them to a format. If not editing, then iMovie doesn't have to be in the loop.

It seems each movie places several different files into the iMovie folder. Do I just drag the QuickTime file to place into iTunes?

You can simply drag the Quicktime files to the iTunes icon in the dock and iTunes will take care of the rest. :)
