Hello,

I was wondering if I can get some insight to an issue I'm having with a recently purchased cinema display.

I purchased a 24" Cinema display used from an ebay seller. I unpacked it yesterday, plugged it in, and plugged in the mini display port connector to the corresponding connector on my macbook pro retina 13" (which is a thunderbolt). The screen on my macbook flashes, as if it was detecting a connection, however the screen on the display is completely black. There is also no "power" light or anything that is showing on the display. When I put my ear to it, I can hear humming, which I'm assuming means some power is reaching the display?

I've contacted the seller who claims that it was tested and working prior to being shipped. The listing also states a no-return policy, but if this is damaged I'm going to have to do something somehow to get a return as I do not want to pay to fix a damaged product. He said it might be the thunderbolt port on my macbook, but I have 2 of them so it seems unlikely that would be the case that they would both be damaged, correct? I'm also willing to bring my macbook to an apple store and have them test the ports to see if they're working properly.

What would you suggest I do at this point? Is there any kind of troubleshooting or setting on my laptop that I can do on my end to further test the issue with this display? Unfortunately I do not know anyone with a macbook to test it out so I only have my macbook to use.
