I need to know how to do maintenence on my imac. I've owned pcs most of my life and they are a pain if you do not maintain them well. What is the best way to maintain a mac? Not really having problems just want to ensure that my mac keeps working well.

what kind of "maintenance" do you mean? Macs dont really need defraging if thats what you mean:confused: Just make sure youve got enough ram for your needs (activity monitor can help you figure that out) and have about 20% hard drive free for Virtual mem and you'll be A-OK:cool:

wow i knew there was a reason i payed so much. thanks for the help.

You can also try utilities such as "Drive Genius" and "Disk Warrior" to maintain the health of your computer. I'd recommend getting an external HD to boot to and installing these utilities on that drive; it makes it easy to maintain the health of your HD when you have the right tools.

The only 'maintenance' I do is a clean install on every major OSX update i.e. 10.x not 10.x.x. Never really have any issues.
