I am looking at trading my mid 2014 Macbook Pro 15 for a new Macbook. Probably the 512 m5 or m7. I am traveling more, so the macbook makes some sense. I do no power user stuff, I browse, email, terminal window, itunes for listening to music. That is about it.
At work, I run the MBP clamshelled with a keyboard and trackpad to a 27" Thunderbolt display.
I would want to run the Macbook like that, with a native USB-C monitor connected to the one port, then any peripherals, usb disk, iphone, would plug into the back of the monitor.
Don't really care about 4K, but would want at least the functional screen res I get now with the thunderbolt monitor. 2556x1440?
Is the LG 27UD88 the best choice? Is there a go to monitor that everyone knows works like I am describing?
Also, will the audio come out the display speakers like the thunderbolt?
I want good image quality, but don't need 4K. What should I be looking at?
