Hey everyone, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but it's been stumping me for like 2 days now.

I have a mid-2012 A1278 MacBook Pro, running OSX 10.9 Mavericks. It's been running fine for me for the past year, save for a handful of problems where I had to replace the battery and speakers. But all of a sudden, 2 days ago, I turned it on to start working on something, after I had installed Office, and I got the big flashing folder symbol. Obviously I got super scared and thought the SSD had died, but after putting the SSD in a USB enclosure it worked fine and I could boot from it on another computer. This led me to believe the flex cable for the hard drive was broken, so I bought a new one and got it the next day. It seemed to work fine, but then after doing anything where it was writing a large amount of data (rendering in Final Cut and installing programs, most recently Office 2011 and the Final Cut 7.0.3 update) it would completely lock up as if the hard drive had dismounted, and then when rebooting the system in verbose mode I got the errors "Read error 0x6" "Kernel cache error 0x6" "Error loading mach_kernel" and occasionally I got the 🚫 symbol when trying to boot from the internal drive or the recovery partition. After researching this it seems like those are the symptoms of a dying drive (except for once occasion when someone said it was the drive cable) but I don't think the SSD is dying because it boots on a different computer perfectly fine and works, and I've run a billion different verify operations in Disk Utility. So now I have no idea what's going on. Did I just buy a bad cable? Is the SSD actually dying? Am I dying? What the hell is going on!!!
