Need help with ram

I was thinking of getting a Imac with 2 gigs of ram and buying a 2gig stick of ram along with it. I was just wondering if I need to buy a specific type of ram like the Mac Pro or if any 2gig ram stick would do.

Hi, you'll need DDR2-800 MHz (PC2-6400) SODIMMs. If you go to crucial.com you can buy ram in a matched pair by the model.

Also worth noting that if you buy a iMac with 2GB it will come as 2X1GB, unless you want to use 3GB then i'd suggest buying 2X2GB to get the full advantage of dual channel ram.

It says its only accessable to up to 4 gigs of ram and only has two slots. Would i need to take a ram stick out and only use 3 gigs?
