I've been having a very strange problem I can't figure out.
I recently bought a ScanSnap scanner with OCR capabilities.
The OCR function does not work in my account. After talking with tech support, I tried logging into my wife's account, and it works perfectly there.
I spoke with Level 1 tech support at Fuji, and after hours of effort (including a live screen-share), we weren't able to isolate the problem.
So I prepared to create a new user account and move my documents and images over. However, when I created the new account and tried a scan with OCR, the OCR didn't work! Note that I had not moved a single file over from my previous account. It was a completely fresh account.
I do not understand how it's possible that the OCR works on my wife's account, but not on a brand new user account (and not on my user account either). If the problem was in my user account, wouldn't I expect it to work in BOTH my wife's account and any new account created?
If the problem was in the system, however, wouldn't I expect it to not work at all - regardless of the account used?
If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them. The Fujitsu engineer is stumped, and so am I.
