Well here goes....I apoligize ahead of time if this is posted to the wrong forum or if I use the incorrect terminology for I am new to macintosh and this is the first time posting to this forum...thanks for your patience....
A friend of mine gave me his busted ibook G4, upon start up the machine made the confirmation chime and the screen lights up completely white (no lines or cracks in the actual lcd) So I decided to take it off his hands if for nothing else than just to go exploring inside of a laptop to find out what made it tick! Upon getting the machine home I decided to take a long shot and export to an alternative display... to my surprise this is a fully functioning PC! Works fine, as a matter of fact Im using it to write this post! The screen even dims accordingly to energy saving settings but alas solid white on the primary display. Structurally the computer seems to be in pretty sound shape and again no cracks in the screen at all. I know I should be thankful I got a stationary computer free of charge but with the summer semester starting I do have an interest in making this a mobile computer if the option is there. I took the laptop into apple hoping they would take a look inside to see if maybe its just a cable that had come loose from a board somehow (I have no idea as to the history of this machine) but they wanted to charge me like an arm and a half with no assurance that after they were done my investment would have payed off (I asked the guy if he had ever seen the money pit) Anyways I dont have the first clue how to service this machine let alone diagnose the problem myself... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or just advice about whether the investment would be worth the end result. Thanks.
