My brother decided he wanted to personalize his iBook (first Mac :) ) and we need some ideas. So far, we plan on removing the white paint and turning it a transparent deep red. That includes the whole outer casing and battery. But we want to know if anyone has some other ideas that could easily be done. I've seen someone take their G3 iBook and make it a MacTablet but we can't do anything that hard.

BTW, if you're interested in the iBook Tablet, here's the link! :p

But anyways, please post your ideas/tips!

The tablet idea would be a real time hog. If you want a different cover try techshells.com. They should be comming out with something soon for ibooks. You can also do a quick one where you pop off the top case and change the color of the glowing apple with colored cellophane (sp?).

Personally I think transparent looks really trashy but you can do what you want.

Well it's not my iBook, I just told him I could get ideas from MacRumors.com members. I've never seen under an LCD before but it was just an idea. Plus it may defect the way the Apple logo would appear...

A transparent iBook would look pretty cool. This is what I did with an older G3 iBook a while back, there are some pics of it as a transparent iBook:

I've read that some company a while back was selling a clear trackpad for the old iBooks, but it was only in Japan. If you could find something like that as well, or somehow make it, it'd be even cooler!

Thats probably the coolest ibook mod I have ever seen. I thought that the plastic was white not just painted white.
