For those that have tried the new SGP ultra optics I would love to hear your thoughts. It seems like the perfect protector for me. I usually run an antifigerprint but lately I have really missed the retina display (after removing my PS antiglare after it got a huge scratch in it). I have been using an SGP oleophobic but it's already starting to lose its coating and getting extremely greasy (and it picks up scratches like no other).

What say you Macrumors? Especially those that have used it for a few weeks...

Thanks Larry

I actually know that thread and watched your review (thanks for all of them btw). The main reason for this thread is to get a real world impression of what people think after running it since it was released. And is it really that much better than normal antiglare/antifigerprint as far as clarity? Has it continued to stave off fingerprints? I have strictly used PS since my 3G.

I've done extensive searching on MR and Google and really haven't found the info I am looking for, honest :)

I dumped it and went back to Crystal. I know others disagree but my impression was that it wasn't the best of both worlds, it was the worst of both. What I mean is that while the clarity was better than the PS anti-glare, it was worse than the crystal. But at the same time, it picked up almost as many fingerprints as the crystal, and was MUCH harder to clean (because the prints and oils settled down into the grooves etc). The topper for me was when I wiped it, it made a zippy fingers on nylon sound that makes my skin crawl (just typing this and thinking about it made my skin crawl).

Anyway, that is my real world impression. I would recommend either getting a true anti-glare or a true crystal - this in between doesn't do it. Unfortunately you have to pick - clarity or fingerprints. You still can't have both at this point.

I was afraid of that, and I saw your impressions in the other thread.
(thanks for the input)

Sure do wish I could have it both ways!

Larry (or anyone)- have you kept it on since you first installed it? Did you have the same thoughts as jbromer?

I really want this to be the end-all-be-all for me! Anyone want to send me their extra? :D I have a PS antiglare to trade!

I just got the ultra optics and I hate it. It makes the screen look very fuzzy. Ill be buying a different screen protector. Any recommendations?

I'll take it off your hands :)

If you don't like the screen resolution to be compromised at all I would suggest SGP Oleophobic or Powersupport Crystal. Both excellent choices.

I'll swap you my extra ultra-optics for your anti-glare...

I'll PM you...

Replied!

Anyone else have some experience to share?

:)

It's nice to trust a stranger on a trade in the good of our iPhone accessory madness :)

Anyone else have some experience to add? I'd love to know if you kept it on and are still enjoying it, Larry.

+1 on this. I put on the Ultra Optic for a grand total of 5 minutes and ripped it off not long after. The above statements mirror my sentiments exactly.

DOH! Guess we'll see how it works out for me in a few days :)

The only reason I haven't taken the Optics off is because I don't have anything better with which to replace it. That and I don't feel like essentially throwing money down the drain. I do know that this will be the only time I use the Optics and next time it will be a crystal clear of some sort.

What's that saying about people that are the most unsatisfied are the loudest? Really hope that is the case with my thread and these protectors

If I hate it at least I didn't kick out any $ for one!

Likely true on both points... I only trust reviews to a point, because they tend to be either really good or really bad...

But as you say, nothing really lost here, and some people have really liked it.

And I can't thank you enough for helping make that a reality!

Hoping it'll get here Monday. Let me know that you got yours please.
