I have a 2008 macbook with a 500 Gig drive in it running Leopard. (I believe its a 2.5 inch SATA drive)
Time to grow!! Need a larger drive. Anybody know the largest size i can get that would work with my macbook?
Would like 1 terra if possible or do i need smaller?

:confused:Any recomendations for a larger 2.5 inch drive that is compatable, reliable and easy to replace? Looking specifically for a good brand (model number) and a place to buy (maybe tiger direct?)

Thanks
K

You need a 2.5" S-ATA HDD with a maximum height of 9.5 mm, see here for several 1 TB versions from Samsung and WD. I cannot recommend a specific on though.

MacBook, MacBook Pro: Replacing the Hard Disk Drive, transferring data to the new HDD

the guide includes:
  • 0. Identify your MacBook or MacBook Pro
  • 1. Getting a new HDD
  • 2. Guides to replace the internal HDD with a newer one
  • 3. Transferring data from the old HDD to the new HDD
  • 4. Using the optical disk drive (ODD) slot for placing an SSD or HDD inside the MB/P (OPTIBAY)
